It’s probably overkill but I do mine every 25k. It’s more about simplicity and easy to keep track of for me. Plus I occasionally tow heavy stuff, and sometimes that involves 4WD off road, so I prefer to be proactive on the maintenance.
I did the transfer case at the same time, and it was by far the cleanest of all the fluids.
I’ve been running 75W-85 GL5 in all three since my previous Tacoma and plan to do so in the 4R as well.
Supposedly the Redline GL5 doesn’t have the harmful stuff that damages brass like the older GL5...
I would probably go with Amsoil from those options.
I’ve always used Redline for gear/transmission oils, so that’s what I put in at 5k on the 4Runner as well.
Honestly OEM is probably beyond sufficient, and changing it regularly is probably more important that what the brand of choice is, but...
This is probably a stupid question, but this does not affect the ability to use the second row of seats correct?
It appears the seats are in their normal position in one of the photos, but in the other photos it looks like the platform/base plate of the system extends far enough that it would...
I’m guessing the “Trailhunter” being both Tacoma and 4Runner models leads to some misleading internet search results.
Or possibly the OP has a 4R also and is just asking about another vehicle they also own that is a very close cousin to the 4R.
That is not a bed liner, Toyota makes the beds from a composite/fiberglass type of material. So there really isn’t anything to remove from the truck as is.
As far as drainage goes, there should be some drain holes near the cab, but they are small and easily clogged with debris. I enlarged mine...
I went dark tint and I’m very pleased with the look and function. It’s comparable to a “sun strip” tint at the top of your windshield. Just my $0.02.
Like js-panda said above I left my windows up for a couple days after install per the instructions, I guess to help them form in place.
I have had no issues, even the first time rolling them up though.
I understand what you mean about scratching the glass, but I haven’t seen evidence of that...
I’ve always had tape on style before, and while there is little or no damage to the paint long term, the old tape can be a real pain to remove once it degrades and you have to re attach the shades (assuming you keep the vehicle long enough to require that).
I got the weathertech for the 4R to...
I bought one of these several years ago to go in my oil catch pan.

It does eliminate splashes very well but is so open nothing backs up either. Also, if you drop your drain plug it will keep it from falling down through the hole in your drain pan and having to be fished...
Maybe I just got lucky, but when I decided to pull the trigger on my 4R I called my local (small) dealership and told them the trim and color I wanted. They didn’t have one on the lot but had it next day from a state over.
They only have 2-3 on the lot, but it didn’t seem to be a problem...
Yes, I’d love to have a summit bumper before the deer start getting really active in the fall!
I had a deer step out and take out the front end of my previous Tacoma while commuting to work (pre ARB bumper). When I got it back I installed the summit bumper the same day.
