You can go on the manufacturer's website of the tires you want to buy and lookup what they recommend for that size/model. It's better than what random people like me could provide.
Iām running 255/75R17 on my Taco, Iām swapping my tires/wheels either the 18ā that will be on the 4R if the dealer can ever get one. I wanted to go with 255/80R17, but could only find them in 10 ply and I was too scared of a harsh ride.
I donāt know if it works well or not, but my recommendation is to learn to back up a trailer using your side mirrors if you donāt already know how to. Itās a big game changer. I back up my trailer 400 feet in a curved road now. I wouldnāt have been able to do that 20 years ago. I get better...

Works great when putting docks in the water getting in and out all the time never exceeded 10 mph.
The problems only happen during an emergency maneuver like extreme braking or swerving. Usually no issues with the vehicle itself, Iāve driven most vehicles Iāve owned overloaded at one time or another without damage, but the handling is different for sure.

Iām trading my Taco for a 4Runner when/if it arrives and Iām putting my 17ā Taco wheels on the 4Runner and they can keep the 18ā to put on the Taco.
