I don't recall how many I used, probably 2 or 3 as I don't think it needed much. You could probably avoid washers and just add a bit of duct tape or grease to the spacer as well just to prevent it from being able to slide.

Also came from a Grand Cherokee, agree the stock ride is rougher. Once I switched the tires (Toyo AT3 285/70/17) it definitely got better. Still not quite on par with the Jeep, but definitely an improvement over small bumps and dips.
