For me it's the weird options decisions from Toyota Canada. If you look at the two cheapest offerings:

SR5 = 7 seats only and no heated steering wheel and only white/black/grey as color choices!

TRD Sport = 5 seats and heated steering wheel and some more colors.

Why 7 seats on a SR5? And no heated steering in Canada? C'mon!

I have yet to go to a dealer to have an ETA. And where i live, I only saw one on the road up to now.
looool didn’t know that :) absolutely ridiculous… after almost after a decade to modernize the 5th Gen they are still not offering the heated steering as a standard basic offering in Canada in 2025!!!!!! I vote for inviting Mr.Toyoda to a morning Canadian drive in Feb in the SR5 !!!

It’s evident Toyota Canada is absolutely out of touch with the local market !!!! Hope someone in Toyota Japan wakes up from the coma they’re in and realize that!! But as always they only wake up when people vote with their money!!! Or when their sales get a big hit due to tariffs !!!

Yep, well said. And a few minutes ago, I discovered through that group, that in the USA, you can get a SR5 with some nice colors that we don't have access.

And at +65k$ canadian with local taxes for a base SR5 (Quebec prices from Toyota's site), this is not a cheap vehicle, we could have at least a few color choices and heated steering wheel.

Yep we get paid less in tens of income in comparison with the US, but we pay much more for vehicles and get way less specs for what we pay for with only few options shoved in our face to accept !! Hell no to that!

And to add insult to injury

1-Toyota has way higher financing interest rates in comparison to other Japanese brands

2-you walk-in to other brand dealerships they greet you and you can get a sales person who knows their vehicles and inventory - not clueless if they are even selling 4Runners yet while a new vehicle is parked outside!!

3-they follow up and call you as they want and appreciate your business - I’ve been shopping for two years now not a single call from any of the dealers..

4- they have incentives and there’s room to negotiate some discount or offers especially when your buying a vehicle for 80k+ vehicle compared to Toyota dealers who are delusional ( I got a dealer who told me that the TRD pro is a special vehicle only for special people ! Like you won’t get one..) looool - well won’t be buying from this dealership anything :) even if I’m stranded!!

I’m holding off and looking at all other options - obviously the Toyota reliability is no longer the same - many issues being reported including the basic brake squealing !!! On 60k+ vehicles what a joke Toyota!!!!

If anyone at Toyota happens to ever read this post - don’t take your long time customers for granted !!! Eventually you’ll lose them..

Oh man, I forgot that one. When they announced that LC, I thought the 1958 was pretty cool and did like the overall look with the round headlights. What a disappointment when I saw the price and only 3 color choices! I understand it's a Toyota but c'mon!

Took Delivery of my SR5 in Underground today. My order was placed back in January.
Nice. Waiting on the same color SR5, put my deposit down beginning of April. Dealer called me last week about a white SR5 they got and if I wanted in (tentatively put all colors down at first since no one could give me a clear answer as to general availability or wait time), but it was white so I decided to keep waiting.

Oh Wow- the prices are much higher in QC and it's full of plastic! didn't know that - the 1958 is listed at 73,304 in Ontario ... and the standard package LC is at ~82k ...

I also noticed some accessories on Toyota Canada's website are priced differently from one trim to another although they are exactly the same part and accessory!!!

Did you know the Canadian specs of the premium package landcruiser does not list the wireless charger for the phone - ???? you pay 6K Extra for premium package and they remove the wireless charger for you :) :) :)

I'm pretty sure they said taxes included
Base 1958 LC starts at 73k something but you gotta to add the close to 15% sales taxes (fed+prov) which gives the 84k'ish final price (in my screenshot) with all added other things such as destination and dealer's fees. At the rates they ask for financing them, it's quite a monthly payment.

And I didn't know about the wireless charger. Crazy!

Which model are you looking at Chris?

it is definitely a Toyota Canada problem. No inventory anywhere for a lot of their vehicle models. We bought a 2025 Odyssey simply because the wait time on a Sienna is...'unknown'. Not sure how that builds a brand, but units are all pre-sold, so dealers might be happy with that financial picture of not carrying inventory. i dunno, this new way with Toyota Canada is a little bizarre to me. However, the American market is substantially larger, so it's natural that many more units would initially be shipped to the US on a new vehicle launch. i don't even consider the 6th Gen 4R launched in Canada yet until dealers get more than a couple units. That is likely not happening until the end of June 2025.

I am tired of waiting too, but i actually feel bad for the salespeople at Toyota dealers. No info, no inventory and hapless approach going to work each day. i don't know how they do it; it would drive me nuts to show up to work to take orders that potentially fall flat 4-6 months from now (or longer).

i have deposits at 3 dealers, and i am not sure i will have a crack at what i want until at least September/October 2025. At that point,if there is no vehicle on the horizon and if i am still keen on waiting, i am targeting a 2026 model. My deposits are all refundable, so the first dealer to get my allocation is my new best friend and the others just lose one person from their wait list. The process is a bit laughable, but as a consumer i am stuck if i want a new 4R. I don't want any comparable vehicle, so it's on me to suck it up, or move on.

Some TRD Sports have arrived in Southern Ontario in April, so you can snag a quasi-test drive, to get a feel for the interior, but maybe not the model you want. The ride, as this forum has shown, can vary from model to model. Colours all seem to be Heritage Blue or Cutting Edge silver, and some are keeping as test drive units. Just google 'ontario 2025 4Runner', and the images will show which dealers have them on a lot.

For colours - i guess it depends on the model you want. I want a 7-seater limited, and have restricted my colour choice to red/blue/underground. Model is most important to me, and if it was only available in black or white, i would wait a year. if you want to buy by colour, it may determine what model you get. i see other manufacturer limiting their base models to base colours, so that might be a current trend that consumers are stuck with.
I really don’t understand this either. In theory at least I could choose an LC250 without premium with java softex interior. I could even skip the sunroof! Or go premium & skip the 20” wheels. I rather like Everest as a color, I could choose that in an off road. Or Since I like brown premium interiors so much I could choose a Limited hybrid in portobello . Oh wait. None of these are possible here despite the vehicles all being made in the same factory.

That’s ok. There’s nothing on the lot I can go try out anyways. No LC250 testers, not even a 1958. The dealership’s first 4R was supposed to be a test unit, I’m assuming that didn’t happen either as it was probably pre sold. no wonder the guy at Ford tells me he’s happily taking orders from people who can’t believe he can put a custom order in hand in a few months, after driving something quite similar on the lot. I still think a Toyota might be the way to go, just thankfully I don’t have to be in a rush.

Congrats! Which dealership?
The dealership I got mine at was Orangeville Toyota. Thought I'd update you on this. The dealership mentioned to me the Hybrids were pushed back another 1-2 months, not sure why... and I think they had 3 gas models on allocation for customers. This was as of this past Friday.
