With just 800 miles on the 4Runner, I was finally able to take a 200 mile drive. Conditions were nearly ideal; all country driving, no wind, no traffic, flat to moderately rolling terrain, no hard acceleration, speed around 55 mph. I was pleased to get 28.2 mpg according to the display (not calculated). I used ECO mode though I don't know all that it does. It seems to affect throttle response. I have removed the chin spoiler; of course I don't know if that makes much difference at the slower speeds that I drive--probably not much. TFL suggested 0.7 mpg less without the spoiler at freeway speeds.

I have the Sport Premium model and have not removed the spoiler. Have just over 700 miles, all city and local freeway driving. Getting about 17.5 mpg with 87 fuel. Using the normal mode. Haven't tried eco or sport mode yet.

Stock size tire? Non-hybrid?

FYI, Eco mode will affect throttle input and shift tables. Basically, throttle input is dampened, and it will shift earlier and hold a higher gear longer to reduce RPM.
