This past weekend I made it out to the 20th Anniversary of the Toyota Jamboree at Barnwell Mountain Recreation Area near Gilmer TX. It was my first time going—and as a new Toyota owner, I wasn’t really sure what to expect—but it ended up being a great time. Definitely recommend checking it out if you haven’t before.
It’s a bit of a haul from San Antonio, so we didn’t get there until around 11 on Saturday. After checking in, we grabbed lunch from one of the food trucks and walked around for a bit. Most of the vendors were out on the trails at that point, so it was pretty low-key.
After that, we found a solid, more secluded campsite just off the main road—had a fire pit and a couple good trees for hammocks, so it worked out perfect. Once camp was set up, we went and watched one of the race events, then wrapped up the night with BBQ in the main tent, checking out vendors, and hanging by the campfire.
I’m putting together an Instagram video from the trip and should have it posted later today—I’ll drop the link when it’s up. If you’re interested in the campsite we found, let me know and I can share the OnX pin.
