I currently own a 25 Tacoma SR5 and I am looking at the same but in a 4Runner SR5. In the Tacoma I can get as an option the JBL stereo and Parking assist front and rear and for some added change heated seats and steering wheel. I opted to forgo the heated stuff. The 4Runner you can get none of that in the SR5, no upgraded stereo, no parking assist, and nothing heated. Parking assist is really a priority, especially with those big painted bumpers.

I really don't understand why Toyota leaves most of these options for the upper trims like Limited, Trail, and TRD Pro versions. Cant they at least give you some convenience packages to chose from like they have on all their other trucks for decades?

If you know of any changes coming to the 2026 4Runner SR5 please let me know.

I wouldn't bet on 2026 with the current tariff landscape, but maybe a slight possibility of a Premium package of some sort in the next couple years.

Heated seats is standard in Canada. As for the others like parking assist and upgraded stereo/infotainment, it might start to intrude on TRD Sport. I have a feeling the reason why SR5 is now relegated to such a barebones base model was to justify the introduction of Sport and Sport Premium, which didn't exist in the 5th gen. And to cling to the narrative that price hasn't changed much (which is only true for SR5).

In fairness to Toyota, SR5 is not a base trim on Tacoma.
