it's night and day difference, the 5th gen needed more gears they where so spread apart.

5th gen transmission will get hotter that then 6th gen. we towed our 4000lb teardrop last year with a 2023 5th gen through the mountains it was getting up to 255 degrees did the same trip this year in the 6th gen it never got hot like that.

just drive both. you will make up you mind quick. apples to apples the 6th gen will get better mpg, but no one buys a 4runner for mpg's.

that wasn't the issue. it scaled back because the 4runner couldn't keep up, voltage drop, it was still in bulk. Still like to know what the 4runner dc to dc charger system is rated at. i'm guessing not that much and that is why they add a alternator if you get the aux power switches.

2min charging at 1500 watts on a camping trip right now. It did this same thing in the landcruiser also. It is 100 degrees out. We recharge it everyday, so I usually charge it at 1000w till it turns off and switch it to 300 watts to finish it off.

you don't "order" a 4runner. a dealer will find one close to what you want. the tow tech package would have been nice, but not a requirement. we tow all the time, the echo works fine just like it did on our 5th gen we had.
