  1. Trailhunter-40 hours into ownership-need input!

The new tech in the 6th Gen 4Rs is TSS 3.0. I got to know that tech and the 14ā€ display screen in a 2025 Crown Signia I owned and drove for 6 months. Loved and hated it at the same time. The TSS 3.0 tech is admirably useful on the road, especially road trips or congested traffic conditions...
  2. Outrageous dealer prices currently

Looks like that Seattle dealer recouped his added profit with $1100+ in ā€˜fees’!
  3. TRD Pro: Thoughts on pricing?

$70-$80 for a TRD Pro is certifiably ?? in my book. But to each his own. When the madness driven by ā€˜must have it now’ buyers, and dealers’ stocks swell maybe sanity will again prevail. Looks over performance for boulevard rides is currently driving the market. This too shall pass.
  4. MSRP Thoughts

I too walked away from a 2025 4R TRD ORP for a very similar OTD price. After looking at a couple of dealer’s offers in my area (SET Region) I decided on a used 5th Gen 2024 TRD ORP. I’m very happy with my decision as its allowed me to direct the money I saved on a few aftermarket mods I wanted...
  5. Finally, MY Ice Cap 2025 4Runner TRD Pro is here!!! Thoughts, questions, reviews, and the build

Initially looked at your post because your TRD Pro is Ice Cap s TRD ORP. I’m planning to paint my wheel flares and spoiler matte black and wanted to see the effect on yours. Really like the black-white contrast!! Congrats on your great choice!!
  6. Finally, MY Ice Cap 2025 4Runner TRD Pro is here!!! Thoughts, questions, reviews, and the build

No. Besides the 5th Gen I'm working on a 1978 LC. Have my hands full with those 2!!
  7. Finally, MY Ice Cap 2025 4Runner TRD Pro is here!!! Thoughts, questions, reviews, and the build

Agree with your assessment of 4Rs in general. They’re powerful enough for their intended purpose. I’m always surprised by all the reviews on YouTube about sluggish pick up, Pedal Commanders, blah, blah. My perspective on this topic, like yours, is my former BMW & DeTomaso Pantera. The Bimmer...
  8. TRD Off-Road Premium vs Sport Premium – Build Costs & Add-Ons

Would definitely opt for the TRD ORP. Both my wife’s 3rd Gen Taco & my 5th Gen 4R are ORPs. Happy with suspensions and crawl control & MTS. My 2 local SET dealers both agreed to order me a 6th Gen TRD ORP without the extra SET garbage which I didn’t want. Actually had one secured through one of...
  9. Made in Japan: 2025 4Runner 6th Gen

Given the new 25% tariffs on cars built outside USA, there may be a push to build 4Rs and Tacomas in-country. OTW, Toyota’s already very high prices, further irrationally inflated by dealer premium shenanigans, will elevate Toyota truck products beyond the reach of most of us. At some point...
  10. Tahara, Japan Built 4Runners - How Much Does it Matter?

It makes a very big difference building at Tahara. Remember that Toyota purposely recruited its best, long term workers to build Lexus at the Tahara plant. That level of experience and heritage of personal responsibility to pursue perfection is irreplaceable and takes decades to achieve...
  11. Predator running board steps are too short lengths-wise in the rear

Just FYI, I have very similar OEM steps to those Toyo OEM steps in your photo, in both my wife’s 3rd Gen Tacoma TRD ORP and my 5th Gen 4R TRD ORP. They work just fine to enter and exit the vehicle, when the rear doors are open. I haven’t felt the need to extend or replace them. Of course...
  12. 265/70R17 Wildpeak AT4W (31.5") tires installed on stock SR5 wheels

Are your new tires load range C or E? That’s a major difference in weight, IIRC. We have 265/70R16 Falken Wildpeak AT3W tires on my wife’s 3rd Gen Tacoma TRD ORP on OEM wheels. They ride very smoothly on the street and have good enough traction for the dirt riding we do. Haven’t tried them on...
  13. Outrageous dealer prices currently

Since I was the OP and have now closed on my 4Runner deaI, thought I’d close the loop. Both of the 6th Gen dealers removed the market adjustment and agreed to let me specify which options I wanted for a build phase allocation 4R. I continued to look for a low mileage 5th Gen TRD ORP. I...
  14. Outrageous dealer prices currently

… and a go anywhere truck you could fix in the bush with a few basic tools. Try that with a 6th Gen hybrid space capsule. That’s the reason my friends in Zimbabwe use BJ79s. Neither here nor there just different evolutionary branches and Bidenomics effect for the USA market.
  15. Outrageous dealer prices currently

We’ll disagree on what more means
  16. Outrageous dealer prices currently

Spending more doesn’t always get you more value, Latin notwithstanding. I have no intention of leaving 6th gen forum, nor of persuading anyone to my thinking, nor arguing for my POV. I merely express my opinion and assessment of the 4Runner market. These observations are based on information...
  17. Outrageous dealer prices currently

Finally have honed in on 2 offers from area dealers for new 2025 6th Gen TRD ORP 4Rs, both on allocation in build stage. Neither is my preferred color but I could live with either, though at the asking prices I want to have all my choices. We’ve bought Toyotas from both dealers before, both...
  18. Outrageous dealer prices currently

I’m always skeptical of published invoice data. Holdbacks and any volume and cash incentives affect actual dealer cost and profit margin.
  19. Outrageous dealer prices currently

Agree. When buying new I find a Toyota dealer who’ll agree to let me order an allocated vehicle in the build out or ship phase so I can specify which distributor and/or port added fluff I don’t want added. That’s how I bought my current Signia. After being told it wasn’t possible to do this by...
  20. Outrageous dealer prices currently

Based on what I’ve found so far used Gen 5 2023-2024s with 25K or less odometers in my area are priced close to or over their MSRP when they were new with zero mileage. Don’t know what they’re actually selling for. I believe where prices are dropping are 4Rs in less popular colors or extensive...
