  1. Can’t find the transmission drain plug

It's good maintenance, especially after you've had a new vehicle for just a bit flush it out and get all of the metal shavings out if any. You want to ignore the dealership when they tell you things like " change your oil at 10,000 miles and transmission fluid is for the lifetime of the car"...
  2. Two ways that a Jeep Wrangler is better than a 4Runner

Before buying my 4Runner Trail Hunter I had owned three Jeep wranglers, two 2013 rubicons, and one 2021 Rubicon 4xe hybrid. I'll add to what you just said and I agree with you 100%. The only thing I wish the trail hunter had is one pedal driving like the hybrid Jeep had, great on those mountain...
  3. 1 year tires update: Falken WildPeak AT3 swap for Toyo Open Country AT3

Just a side note, since you're staying in Ouray, Brick House 737 is an excellent place to eat, elk bolognese is my go-to there.
  4. 1 year tires update: Falken WildPeak AT3 swap for Toyo Open Country AT3

I would recommend going early in the day due to the sheer number of Jeep rentals and utvs. They don't always know the rules, going up the mountain you have the right away going down find a place to pull over and let the others buy. It's a rather easy Trail, I had a Subaru outback follow me up...
  5. 1 year tires update: Falken WildPeak AT3 swap for Toyo Open Country AT3

Got my Trail Hunter in May of 2025, just now going through the same thing, but I'm getting rid of the Toyo Open country at3s and moving to the Nokian Outpost nat. I was very disappointed in the toyos in snow snow in the San Juan mountains around Ouray and the less than stellar operation driving...
  6. My Carvana experience. Goodbye i-force-max

I had a similar experience when I sold my 21 Jeep Wrangler hybrid, carvana gave me the best price and it was super simple selling it to them. They beat the other local dealers by 10K. Opposite experience on the 4Runner Trail Hunter though, I was pleased to get the extra room inside compared to...
  7. Visual reminder to oil change during break in (at 1000 miles)

I think I'm right about this, those engines were assembled in the United States and the 4Runner is completely built in Japan. That's one of the main reasons I wanted the 4Runner model because it was made in Japan, I don't buy American products because of quality control issues. That's why I...
  8. Visual reminder to oil change during break in (at 1000 miles)

I always figured over maintaining was never a bad thing, especially with the turbocharger and overall setup in an engine light the one in this Trail Hunter why not maintain it sooner, I changed the oil at about 4,000 mi and the filter. I've even changed the rear differential oil at 5,000 mi...
  9. Visual reminder to oil change during break in (at 1000 miles)

In his video titled "DIRTY Filters Are BETTER Filters," he explains that as a filter collects debris, the "holes" in the filter media begin to fill up. This actually increases the filter's efficiency (its ability to catch smaller particles) because the trapped dirt acts as additional filter...
  10. Visual reminder to oil change during break in (at 1000 miles)

There's no reason to change your oil if you're not going to change your filter. Filters aren't that expensive.
  11. Best way to get oil into the engine

You're right, that is a perfect funnel, I've been using one for both of my Toyotas for years. You're not going to spill a drop.
  12. Who's had their 6th gen for a year now? What do you love/hate?

Mine is underground, (Trailhunter) had it ceramic coated but the paint is so thin it shows swirl marks easily. Thinking about having a Pro paint shop paint it the same color with higher quality paint eventually.
  13. Who's had their 6th gen for a year now? What do you love/hate?

Just coming up on a year now, a little less than 6,000 miles on it. It's the Trailhunter trim and the only thing I'm not crazy about is the gas mileage, other than that it's perfect. It is a rock crawling off-road beast. Only thing I'll do to it, going to switch out the wheels and tires to...
  14. Disappointed with the Paint on My Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro

Yeah I've had my 4Runner Trailhunter for a year, I had it ceramic coated in the first week but the swirl marks, even using expensive lambskin car wash mitts are still there. I should have had it wrapped but didn't. I'm planning on having it repainted at a high-end shop nearby with some good...
  15. BFG KO3 275/70/18 on Trailhunter OEM wheels

Then that might be a great option for you.
  16. BFG KO3 275/70/18 on Trailhunter OEM wheels

For now you can still buy both options but the ko3 offers improvements like better wet and mud traction and are far superior than the ko2s were. They are transitioning to the ko3s only and will be adding more tire sizes so eventually they will have the c load as well. The BF Goodrich sales rep...
  17. BFG KO3 275/70/18 on Trailhunter OEM wheels

I meant d rating as the compromise. They are lighter than the e.
  18. BFG KO3 275/70/18 on Trailhunter OEM wheels

A good compromise would be ko3s in E rating.
