What is your goal or need for this change? Based on your tag, it looks like you are installing on an SR5, correct?
stock everything else including wheels or lots of mods?
Awesome.... Maybe I misread the Toyota manual. It clearly showed how to start the procedure but never said anything about the automagical capability :)
So, the dealer was right and there is nothing they need to do with TPWS on a rotation.
Put that one to bed and maybe trust the dealer a little...
No worries.
I still would like to know if the system TPWS magically knows there has been a rotation of if the dealer initiated a reset in the console or via a dealer tool.
initially speaking to two tecks and an advisor, they said the do nothing with the TPWS for a rotation. Maybe they looked in...
Not the case. This was a simple 4 wheel rotation. Nothing touched the spare which I believe is a temp tire anyways. They rotated per the manual, moving front to back, keeping each on the same side.
My spare does not have a sensor and only displays 4 wheels.
Not sure where the comment comes...
Nodak - Not sure where the 5th sensor came up. I only have the stock OEM spare for the SR5 and ithe display only shows the 4 main wheels. What am I missing :)
I know few folk are probably using this but, I paid a subscription for a year as I have a weird use case.
My issue is occasionally but all too frequent, I try to use the hotspot from my phone that auto connects and cannot. Apps report slow internet or timeout, etc. When this happens, I am not...
So, I get the vehicle back from the dealer service dept. I did point out the details in the owners manual but stated I'll just do the reset as it's easy to initiate.
QUESTION - When I started the car, I saw a display stating it was reseting the tire PSI while driving or something like that...
I am pretty sure they should have a checklist to follow that eliminate lack of memory or each task. Unbelievable what we let dealer service departments get away with. In many cases, I go in knowing more than the advisor, not just Toyota.
If it was an independent shop, I get it but, Toyota only...
I think we are on the same page. I did not see the comment about the radio learning the position but I assume that is not automatically done, it does that during the registration process, right?
If the registration process was not done, it could flag an incorrect wheel warning, right?
shoukd...
Well, while waiting for oil change and rotation, I downloaded the owners manual. Page 545 clearly states that you have to reset the tpms after a rotation. Its good that the owner can do this themselves.
Its not good that the dealer did not know this and is not doing it. The potential...
I am at the Toyota dealer right now and having oil, filter and rotation done. I read somewhere online that after the totation, they have to recalibrate the TPMS system so the tire pressure display is accurate and knows which position each tire is in (front, left, rear right, ect.)
I ask the...
I fastened all three rear seatbelts and do not get the warning light. I fastened only one and the warning on shows two dots representing the other two seatbelts not fastened.
its weird it comes on at all with no rear passengers. Alao, I really think I would have noticed this warning at starup...
I have had my 4R SR5 for 8 months. Today, I stopped to get gas, started the engine and saw a red warning icon on the lower right of the display near the 7500 rpm scale.
it turned off in maybe 15-25 seconds. I had no passengers or load in the rear and did not open the rear doors at the gas...
