  1. 2025 4 cylinder sounds awful to this 2022 4R Owner!

I would be very interested to know what people would say about the engine after driving it if they didn't know what kind of engine it was. I think a lot of the criticism of the turbo 4 is confirmation bias, they want a V6 or V8 and don't believe a 4 cylinder is appropriate for this vehicle...
  2. Break In Period Procedure [Mileage / Recommendations] for 2025+ 4Runner 6th Gen ⚙️

On the drive home plan part of your route on back roads that go through small towns. Your 6 hour drive may turn into 10 hours but you may enjoy the slower pace in your new ride.
  3. Break In Period Procedure [Mileage / Recommendations] for 2025+ 4Runner 6th Gen ⚙️

You won't get engine failure from not following the break in procedure but years and many miles from now you might have an issue with oil burning. The best break in procedure is lots of city driving. The engine is constantly going up and down in revs and the transmission is doing a lot of shifting.
  4. Camping @ Joshua Tree here we come!

She's a Brick.... House. She's mighty. mighty just letting it all hang out. Have a great time and keep us updated on how the 4R handles the trails, ride quality, fuel economy etc. I was listening for creaks and rattles and didn't hear any, how good is the build quality on your early production...
  5. Dealer Installed Paint Protection (Ceramic) Mandatory and $799?

This reminds me of the case of an attorney that sued American Airlines in small claims court many years ago for $25 because they lost his luggage. The airline argued that luggage handling was a courtesy the airline provided to passengers. The court agreed with the attorney's argument that when...
  6. Owner Review: 2025 4Runner SR5 4x4 w/ 3rd Row Seats - Impressions, Photos, MPG Figures

I agree. They changed the shocks depending on trim level but I’m sure most other suspension components like bushings, links, springs etc are the same. Same with the stuff you don’t see like wiring harnesses switches etc.
  7. Underhood engine compartment photos from my gas non-hybrid 2025 4Runner TRD Off-Road

It's nice to see a modern vehicle with plenty of room to work around the engine. One of the reasons I like 4 cylinders is they usually don't take up much space and in turn the maintenance and repairs are easier if you're DIY and even if you aren't the labor time will be less. Does it have dual...
  8. Auto Start Stop (ASS) Disable/Delete/Defeat Solution

Where I live in the south the ASS isn't as much of an inconvenience since it's so hot most of the time the system doesn't auto stop due to the demand for max A/C.
  9. L580F vs AL80F Transmission Differences

Not the mighty J series. We had an Accord V6 with the J30 and to this date it's the smoothest V6 I've ever experienced. Whether it's idling or at redline it's always silky smooth. At 80+ mph it had this high pitched muted whine that was like a jet engine at cruise, loved that car.
  10. Running boards standard for which trims? Aftermarket options?

The optional running boards on the Limited are power deploying running boards. The fixed running boards are standard.
  11. Review: How Does the 2025 4Runner Stack Up to the Original? by TFL

The first thing that caught my eye is the chin spoiler under the bumper of the original and how the new one is blasted because of the chin spoiler under the bumper. I know it's lower to the ground but it looks so similar to the old one it made me wonder if the designers did that on purpose.
  12. Owner Review: 2025 4Runner SR5 4x4 w/ 3rd Row Seats - Impressions, Photos, MPG Figures

Nice ride and a beautiful family. Your point about the build quality is what we're paying for. I've been on multiple websites and all the comments are about it being overpriced. It's not overpriced when you consider its impeccable build quality, the high quality materials it's made with and that...
  13. Tahara Assembly Plant Tour - Where 4Runners Are Built in Japan (Production Factory)

The Tahara plant was chosen to be the first Lexus production facility and has produced many Lexus models. The ones with the most renowned build quality and reliability like the LS, GS, GX, LX, RC and LC have all been built in Tahara. When the LS400 was introduced it redefined what was expected...
  14. Bad News / Good News

I agree. If you took all the badges off the 6th gen and asked a random person what kind of truck it was I think most people would recognize it as a 4Runner. The designers did an amazing job of mixing the new face of Toyota trucks with the traditional look of previous generations of 4Runners.
  15. Bad News / Good News

First, let me say that I wanted a 4th gen V8 when they came out but it was far out of my budget. The best looking 4Runner until the 6th Gen. But you won't miss the V8 except for the sound. The T24A engine makes 278 HP and 317 lb/ft of torque vs the 4.7 V8's 260 HP and 306 lb/ft of torque, more...
  16. Payload capacity?

Payload capacity is vehicle specific because it depends on what options and accessories are installed. A base SR5 will have the most and a fully loaded Trailhunter will have the least, and everywhere in between.
  17. L580F vs AL80F Transmission Differences

As far as I know it's beefed up to handle the torque of the higher output Max. Toyota (Aisin) transmissions are usually bulletproof reliable and I wouldn't worry about it. Toyota sometimes has to recalibrate software but that's about it. Not dragging Honda (I've owned 3 Honda products) but...
  18. Do you use your Sunroof / Moonroof?

I don't have one now but I've owned 4 cars with them and I like it. I live in the south and it's usually to hot to have them open but on a mild fall or spring day riding with the windows down and sunroof open on the back roads is so enjoyable. I look forward to getting a Limited with the...
  19. Why are you buying the 6th gen 4Runner / replacing your current vehicle?

I have always wanted a 4Runner, starting with the 3rd Gen and fell in love with the 4th Gen. But they came out when I was finishing school, starting my career and paying off student loan debt; a 4Runner was not in the budget. When I got in a position where I could get one the 5th gen was out. I...
