Part of the answer is that it depends on what trim you want. The top of the line TRD Pro, Trailhunter and Platinum trims will carry price markups for longer than the other models. You should be able to buy the other trims at MSRP or below within a few weeks of them hitting dealers in bulk...

Nice to see the 6,000 pound tow capacity up from the 5th gen's 5,000 lbs. But curious why it's 500 lbs less than the new Tacoma which gets up to 6,500 pounds towing capacity? Since 4Runner and Tacoma share same platform and powertrains, what's making the difference?

Not a big loss in my opinion. I don't think the KDSS take rate was very high. Rarely ever saw any 5th gen 4Runners equipped with it from dealers.
