I looked under my SR5 and i saw it only 6 bolts to completely remove each sway bar.
Has anyone tried disconnecting their sway bars? Just curious how it feels on road and if it takes away some of the on road harshness.
I think they use different shocks on each trim but the same sway bar thickness on all trims so some trims are more "optimized" for bump absorption and some for on road handling.
What part of the US are you from? I got a quote from CarMax which was 42k. Thought it was pretty low because they are selling it at markup on their site.
I posted this elsewhere but I wonder if anyone has tried removing one of both of their sway bars to see if there is a drastic improvement in ride quality. My feeling is the stock suspension is already quite stiff and so would resist any excessive body roll.
Just curious if anyone has tried driving this thing around without the sway bars yet and can report back.
I think they made it to drive very car like with stiff suspension and so it should resist excessive with the sway bars removed but not sure.
I actually test drove it a while back in 1958 from. While I liked the exterior of the LC more i think it was overpriced for the basic materials/features offered. Also I didn't want the hybrid due to added complexity and it eating into the trunk space. But you are right I remember it riding a bit...
It will be interesting to read how the car rides with the sway bars disconnected once people start doing that. Perhaps that'll give more on road compliance.
Nice. I test drove the LC as well. I think it rode smoother as well. I didn't like the decreased cargo space though. Supposedly the 4runner is better built than the LC as well. Both cool cars
Having played with tire pressures my gut feeling is new tires will help a bit not a big difference. I'm just going to driving it a lot and see if things loosen up. I am at 400 or so miles. I'll try the bigger tires whenever these give out.
Any updates on this? How many miles are you at and any improvement?
I have a new SR5 and the ride a little harsher than I'd like. I am wondering if the shocks have a break in period.
