  1. Stuck in mud at Pine Barrens. Noob

In my opinion that situation you were in is way way beyond just being a noob. Maybe loosen it up it with a few tubs of C4 Good thing you have those all season floor mats......
  2. Front air dam clearance for oil change?

Generally it is a PITA but there are many reasons I do my own vehicles. Top one is no one will do a better job. WAY too many interactions with dealerships who do not care about me or the thing I bring in. Worst was an Explorer I had where the ball joints are integral to the A frame- to change a...
  3. Front air dam clearance for oil change?

"I don't use ramps to change the oil and I'm old with a bad back." Air dam?. -----------++++++++++++++ If it helps the milage I'll wait until I see it in the rear view mirror. ------------------------ I have not had a chance to look around under there with our wonderful winter. A few glimpses...
  4. 2026 4Runner TRD Sport Dyno Results (Stock vs Tuned on 86 Octane)

Certainly free to load in whatever you think is best for you. But I wouldn't rely on faith that it is true. Forget the noise out there about it being proven. It cannot be proven - the three popular fuels have almost the same energy, how can you get more out of one vs the other. Tuning is a...
  5. Front air dam clearance for oil change?

Ya I was just trying to do less work.. There appears to be a small plastic pan that needs to come off as well. thx
  6. Front air dam clearance for oil change?

I am gathering the needed stuff to do the first oil change. After 6 months I actually realized the front air dam is going to present a problem. I have a set of ramps that will get it maybe 5 1/2 inches higher. Will that be enough to do the oil and filter? Thanks
  7. 2026 4Runner TRD Sport Dyno Results (Stock vs Tuned on 86 Octane)

I 'm just the messenger. It's the chemistry that says the energy in a gallon of gas is pretty much the same regardless of the octane grade. Therefore you cannot get more HP (work) out of gasolines with the same (or just about the same) BTUs available. The octane differences are due to various...
  8. 2026 4Runner TRD Sport Dyno Results (Stock vs Tuned on 86 Octane)

For the most part only one metric matters in the energy content of gasoline- BTUs. 87, 91, and 93 octane have almost the same stored energy. In fact 87 has 150,000 and 93 has 140,000 BTUs so slightly less energy available in the higher octane. Octane is not a measure of energy. In the...
  9. Paint scratched and messed up from snow cleaning

Unfortunately there are a number of smushed paint spots on the truck in various places from snow cleaning. To get a foot of snow off the thing takes some muscle and accidents will happen. But three other cars sailed through without damage. It is unfortunate because the finish is like a mirror...
  10. Paint scratched and messed up from snow cleaning

I have read the paint, black in my case, on the 4runner is not durable. With winter over I am going through typical spring cleaning. I have found a lot of scratches down to the white primer. The truck has a lot of great features but paint is not one of them, at least black. Not durable. On all...
  11. Utter disappointing. Loss in quality. Rusting and salt splashing

It looks like that bracket has other uses. It has been machined to accept something which would cover the rusted area. I can see how mass producing a multi use part would end up like that.
  12. Utter disappointing. Loss in quality. Rusting and salt splashing

The casting rust seems to show up in a this forum quite a bit. Looks Looks like mine. But I am only at 3000 +/- Cast the part, paint it then machine it? The part seems hefty enough to handle many years of that? I do not see a problem. I see the exhaust heat shield is not in good shape at 6000...
  13. 4Runner Oil Catch Can (SXTH Element)

"Why do I get the impression that this is a solution looking for a problem?" Probably because you are a skeptical person that needs data proving these 4runners are going to be junk without this device. Anyone have that data from a reputable source? The Tacoma has run this engine for around 2...
  14. Noise coming from 4Runner hours after engine is off - normal?

No bad on you. In my opinion the manual is a general reference and in some ways poorly done. This forum provides a much quicker and better response than pawing through the books. I was trying to determine if I had the noise cancellation by reading the manual...best it could do is some general...
