  1. Strange low range shift points

This inquiry is to folks who rock-crawl with their Gen 6 non-hybrid 4Runner. When I'm driving in low range, the truck shifts from 1st to 2nd gears at a reasonable 2200 rpm, about 4 mph. Shifting from 2nd to 3rd is at about 3500 rpm, 13 mph which is already too fast for some rough terrain. 3rd to...
  2. 5-tire rotation

I just did the first rotation this week. Since the Toyota recommended pattern didn't make sense to me I decided to leave the spare in new condition and do non-diagonal rotation. When 4 tires need replacement I'll buy 3 and put the unused spare on the ground.
  3. Low range shift points

I've recently spent several weeks driving Colorado and Utah trails using 4-Low numerous times. Approximate shift points in low range are: first to second 2,200 rpm 4 mph second to third 3,500 rpm 13 mph third to fourth 4,500 rpm 24 mph fourth to fifth 5,000 rpm 32 mph...
  4. Carista Options / Settings for 2025+ 4Runner 6th Gen (screenshots)

Steve Clifford does a nice review of Carista on his You Tube channel. In YouTube search on "Steve Clifford Carista".
  5. Comments on TRD ORP and Westcott Design sliders

Having just completed several weeks of traveling CO and UT with many days of easy to moderate off-roading, some problems have surfaced. Even though Toyota replaced my brakes at 2,000 miles because of the embarrassing howling noise, the noise is actually worse. This was particularly annoying...
  6. Front Brake Squeal Noise Fix - official TSB brakes fix! (TSB-0046-25)

Everyone is referring to the noise as sqealing. Howling is more accurate. Before the TSB was done on mine, the brakes howled only in reverse and only when cold. After the TSB they howl going forward and reverse, cold and warm. Considerably WORSE than before.
  7. Front Brake Squeal Noise Fix - official TSB brakes fix! (TSB-0046-25)

The TSB pad replacement was done on mine last week. It didn't correct the problem; still howls like it did before.
  8. 2025 4Runner SR5 brakes squeal like dying banshee when cold

Over 2000 miles on my ORP and the screeching seems to be getting worse. Only in reverse and when cold. Hopefully, enough of us will complain to our dealers so Toyota will consider a solution.
  9. Mysterious drain tube

Thanks, I'll check on that although we haven't been remote-starting. Glad the spots are water, not oil or transmission fluid.
  10. Mysterious drain tube

Nodak, You're making assumptions again. I do not have it set to defrost, windshield, or windshield and feet. I've learned that when I start the truck, it will make cold air without being told to unless I dial the thermostat to a temp higher than the temp in the cab. Annoying but not a big deal.
  11. Black Fender Flare upkeep

For non-glossy plastic I use Mother's Back To Black, Aerospace 303, or sometimes Armor All (dust sticks to it). My favorite was a product called Black Chrome, but can't find it anymore.
  12. Mysterious drain tube

Sunroof is an interesting guess, but we've had no rain and a week since last washing. I still suspect it's as nubbins said, drain from AC. We haven't had the AC on for a while, but the truck often makes cold air for a while without being told to when first started.
  13. Mysterious drain tube

My wife noticed a wet spot on the garage floor under our ORP approximately beneath the drivers seat. Upon inspection, I found a approx. 4" rubber tube with water slowly dripping out. Can't trace it so don't know where it's coming from or what it is. I'm assuming it's condensate from the AC...
  14. Rear Hatch buttons, do yours work?

I concur with Maximus4r ; the rear window must be fully shut for the buttons to operate. On a similar note, the kick sensor on our rear gate sometimes works, sometimes doesn't and I don't know what I'm doing differently. It seems to work when the truck is locked.
