Hey guys! Figured id reach out for some advice on this. I installed an auxbeam AR800 in the 4runner the other day and received my ditch lights from auxbeam and brackets from CBI so I am tackling the project this weekend of installation.
*Forewarning I am learning as I go here and do not have a whole lot of experience with electrical terminology or exact product names so bare with me and feel free to speak to me like I'm a 5 year old, i take no offense.
So the actual pod function seems simple enough, cut the harness before the relay, connect the ground and power from each light together and plug that into the switchbox (we will call it slot 1), ezpz I will have functioning ditch lights that will turn on when I press the button on the controller.
My question is the lights I purchased have a DRL as well as turn signal function that I would like to implement, I know for the DRL if I wanted to I could just connect them together and use a different spot on the switch panel and they would work when I have power to them on the controller since the ground / power is already supplied through Slot 1 of the switch panel, and if I wanted the amber turn signals to constantly be on I could do the same with those.
but... if I use a T-tap on the actual turn signal bulb harness for the Turn Signal and the DRL, will these function properly? i.e when I turn the car on and the DRL on the headlight bulb has power will it also power on the DRL on the pod light? and when I use the turn signals will it also turn on the light and send the signal to the Pod light turn signal function? Even if the power to the main pod lights from the control switch are turned off?
Thoughts? Comments? Concerns? Advice? Tips? Am I in way over my head? (don't answer that last one) I am probably way oversimplifying the process to make this all work, hopefully the photo kind of shows what I am talking about when it comes to setup.
TLDR : I bought Ditch lights and want the Turn signal and DLR functions to work without having to use any kind of switch on the inside of the cab to do so. My main objective is the Turn signals though.
