I’ve changed my own oil every time including right after 10k due to just returning from a cross country trip to SC. Actually changed it once I arrived in SC as well. I’d rather do it myself and as someone else stated, I don’t very much trust the dealer unfortunately. I’m not a big guy so it’s...
According to the dealership I visited, they replaced my transmission. I’ve driven it well over 1,000 miles since then and it’s completely different. It still doesn’t shift as smooth as I think it should from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd sometimes, but it’s also really not bad at all. You can feel it...
I’m hopeful for you that you don’t have any issues. I know there’s many people that didn’t experience what I did. If you do experience the same issues, hopefully it’s a quicker process to get your 4Runner back since I’d imagine they’ve dealt with these issues around the country at this point...
Picked up my 4Runner last Wednesday. I’ve only driven it a little over 90 miles, but so far so good!
When I asked to view the old transmission, my advisor said pretty much what I anticipated: “we already shipped it back to Toyota”. He wasn’t able to provide me with what exactly was wrong and...
I would like to think so. I’ve just had shady and unprofessional experiences with other Toyota dealerships. I think you misunderstood what I meant. I don’t think they wrote something just for my vehicle, but rather they made an update for all other 4Runners currently experiencing the same...
Just got a call from my advisor at the dealership. He informed me that my transmission supposedly showed up yesterday, even though on 7/3 there still wasn’t even an ETA available. He notified me I won’t be able to receive any updates from the phone app due to the tech disconnecting the battery...
I haven’t personally checked my transmission fluid, but according to my advisor, the tech that initially worked on my 4Runner supposedly did and “it looks good”.
Got a call from my advisor on 7/3 just to have him tell me his update for me is no update at all. Still can’t even give me an ETA on...
No updates. My 4Runner is just sitting in the basement of the dealership.
I come to a complete stop, put it into neutral, and then change to 4WD. Even with my transmission issues it’s always been smooth as butter doing it that way.
Update as of yesterday, good and bad.
Good news is, Toyota is not going to make the tech working on my 4Runner jump through anymore hoops or go back and forth with trying different things which could take weeks if not months. They advised him to just replace the transmission. I’m also finally...
I’m supposed to get an update today, but I’m anticipating no progress so I’ll request a loaner at that time.
Please keep us updated with what your dealership is able to find out. I’d assume they’ll go through the same process as the dealership I went to, but maybe the engineer they contact will...
I really hope you’re not experiencing the same issue I am, but it sounds pretty similar, unfortunately.
The latest update from my advisor at my local dealership, where I dropped my 4Runner on Tuesday, is they contacted an engineer at Toyota and the engineer advised them to reset the...
I learned, after purchasing my Pro, that these transmissions are “learning transmissions”. It gave me hope that maybe this was all it was, it was just learning my different driving habits. A few hundred miles later, the violent downshifts from 3rd to 2nd and 2nd to 1st started happening. That’s...
I completely understand why you wouldn’t want to risk “testing” it for the sake of your transmission. I can’t recall if I always put it in sport mode for the first few weeks or month I drove it. I think I did though because one day I accidentally cleared the history of my average MPG so the next...
I’m really hopeful that was a one time thing, but I fear it wasn’t. I’ve read a couple other posts of something similar happening to a few other people. This never happened to me, even with the other issues, until recently, when I returned home, came to a complete stop, put it in reverse to back...
