I’ve had my 4Runner for about a year now. My cold start routine is to let the cat idol for about 30 sec until it drops to 1k rpm. The thing I’ve noticed is the turbo won’t kick in until I’ve hit about 1/8 to 1/4 mile away. Instead my car will use the battery for extra power during that time. So...

I’m guessing this is a safety feature. If we put something big in the window…let’s say a kayak. Opening the back door might not work so well.

Mine also does this, I don't really have any issues with wind noise though.
