I finally got around to measuring the min gap. I appears to be 1.15 inch and it occurs beneath the second from last aft-located cross bar. This cross bar is located a few inches aft of the forward upper corner of the rear quarter window on my car.
That's a lot of mass hanging off the back. My bike (311 lbs) and carrier (94 lbs) tends to compromise the high speed dynamic handling of my '25 4Runner.
I loved my 5th gen but it was a scary vehicle on the highway at speed. Uncertain handling, funky brake dive, scary cornering, etc. The 6th Gen wins hands down in handling, braking, power delivery. I miss the old rear seat and sliding tray on my Trail but the new one beats it by a mile.
I added a seat riser kit from Desert Does It to my driver's seat. The supplied spacers and bolts allow for a 1-inch rise in the front of the seat base and 1.5 inches at the aft side of the seat cushion, a nice improvement over stock! Kit was about $135 and easy to install.

I installed the Sherpa Capital rack on my TRD ORP. Great fit, solid quality. I confirmed that my Yakima Skybox mounts easily on The Capital with plenty of clearance between the mounting claws and the roof.
I made these adapters from 1.5-inch aluminum angle stock (0.125-inch thickness). They allow me to bolt Thule load bars on my Sherpa Capital rack. Great for canoe carrying.
I looked them over and ordered the Sherpa. Here's why:
- clearance between crossbars and roof appears to be better for Sherpa rack
- Very beefy 0.25-inch side plates. Important to support the cantilevered forward section of the rack.
- No need to cut the roof molding to install

I loosened the two 10-mm bolts securing the hold-down latch to the floor , them pulled up on the rear of the floor panel to release the three clips on the back edge of the panel. There is a space 3 or so inches deep under the floor panel.
