The single biggest consideration could be the full time 4WD system of the Limited. That means it's always ready for changing weather conditions. The part time 4WD system in the Pro can't be used on dry roads. It locks the front and rear axles together, which binds the drivetrain when turning the...
Michelin Defender gets rave reviews. Lasts a long time, top rated in dry and wet handling but still strong in snow and decent off road.
AT tires look like they would be good in snow cause they’re knobby, but that’s not what counts. It’s the sipes that make the difference in snow, along with the...
4runners.com definitely has its share of jerks. And it seems to have gotten worse recently.
I tried to be clear on this point, but if I wasn't: I think there are very valid reasons to buy a 4Runner even if it will never hit dirt. It's not my view that all street-only 4Runner owners are...
The Off Road trims come with real underbody protection, actual steel skid plates. The Sport and SR5 appear to just have a felt/plastic cover under the engine bay. More ground clearance is another significant plus for the Off Road. Also beefier shocks. And the locking rear diff could come in...
Within the wide range of AWD systems out there, Subaru has a good one. It is always active, with substantial torque going to both the front and rear at all times. It uses a mechanical limited slip coupling to join the front and rear axles. The "limited slip" part means that torque gets...
IF the 6G Limited is essentially the 5G Limited but with the new engine and trans....
Yes, in fact it's much more off-road capable than most AWD SUVs. This 4WD system is superior to AWD systems because of the locking center differential, and because many AWD systems are actually FWD with a...
instead of writing them again, will link to my thoughts here: https://www.4runner6g.com/forum/threads/undecided-trd-offroad-premium-v-trd-sport-premium-input-requests.2357/#post-34528
An observation, not a judgement: The "poser" thing is a big part of 4Runner culture. I've been in thousands of conversations with 3G-5G 4Runner owners, and it's common for them to mock people for buying these vehicles then driving them only on the street.
People who buy trims like the TRD Pro...
I’m sorry your feelings were hurt. The reference was in explanation for why the Off Road models have had higher resale values. Which was in answer to a question asked by the OP.
The Sport has a fake hood scoop that besides reducing visibility over the hood is, well, fake. It also has 20" wheels, which exist primarily for looks not function. They're heavier and reduce sidewall height so you get less protection from potholes or off road obstacles.
The Off Road has...
I'm sure Toyota tried hard with these new Tacomas, Tundras, 4Rs, LCs and GXs. They have a lot riding on them proving to be reliable.
I do think however that the jury is still out on longevity and durability under hard use.
While I don't think there's any way that the new 2.4 turbos will be...
wow, you're really going above and beyond in your duty as our 6G guinea pig! :ROFLMAO:? Can you tell us what mod you're doing that requires seat removal? Inquiring minds want to know!
There’s a middle road approach, which is what I always do on new cars: follow the recommendations BUT make sure to induce engine braking to help seat the rings. Vary the RPMs a lot, rev it up (within the recommended guidelines) and let it coast back down. Also downshift from time to time.
Idea...
More great pics, thanks. And congrats again! Have you figured out how much actual ground clearance there is? Not counting the front air dam, which obv can be removed (and would be by nature in any real off roading lol).
And what does it get for skid plates? Any steel plates below the engine...
