I used to use ECO mode all the time until one day I was waiting for an opening to make a left turn and tried to scoot across when an opening came. I pressed the gas pedal and it took about two full seconds before it responded. I almost got hit! Now, I mostly use SPORT for the responsive...
Yes, I have heard the same thing from a master mechanic and diagnostician. He swears by every 3K miles! 10K is just asking for trouble. I will change it every 5K.
TRD Sport gives me between 22 and 25 mpg avg. Combination city/highway and some dirt roads but nothing that requires 4x4. I usually use Normal mode unless I'm on the highway then I use Eco. If I'm on dirt roads or in certain areas of town, I'll use Sport mode.
According to the manual, and my own experience, the system will turn off lane assist if I take my hands off the steering wheel for too long. That means I have to hold the wheel for the feature to continuously operate. Of course, my instinct is to steer the vehicle and the system also wants to...
Took my TRD Sport in for its first service and oil change at 5000 miles. Was told it wasn't due for an oil change until 10k miles. I think my jaw hit the floor. Anyway, they said they could certainly do an oil change today but it would have to be one of the two oil changes allowed under the free...
Interesting. When I took mine in for its first oil change, I asked about the brake squeal service bulletin and was told the problem had to be repeatable by them and very noticeable. It would be an all-day service. I declined because I've heard it only a couple of times and can't make it happen...
I'm used to the old cruise control. I don't like it acting like it knows what's best for me. Plus, the lane assist feature doesn't work well for me. It works for a few seconds then cautions me to take control of the wheel because it's going to disable itself. A few seconds later it starts...
After driving a few days and trying different ways to disable the PCS, I have concluded there is no way to disable it permanently using the menus on the instrument cluster. It defaults to ON every time you restart the vehicle. But, it will remember the sensitivity setting. I set it to minimum...
So I pulled the fuse but the pilot led stayed on. It must have an internal battery. Then I removed the device from the vehicle and brought it in my house. The led is has started blinking an hour later. The vehicle still starts and the SiriusXM still works. The key fob still locks the doors and...
I just noticed another fact possibly related to the IKON device under the hood. My key FOB has an IKON sticker on the back. and that sticker has an IMEI number on it. Hmmm.
I was poking around under the hood, just checking things out when I noticed something connected directly to the battery via an inline fuse. The wires went to a small flat rectangular device stuck to the inside of the fender with double-sided tape. The only identifying mark I could see was a...
I will report back in a few days, but I'm reading that the Pre-Collision System, which is what I think stopped me in the middle of the road the other day, can only be disabled until the next time the car is started. If this is so, I guess my only remedy will be to wait until it actually causes...
I was exiting a side street onto a major 4-lane road. A car was approacing from the left in the left lane and I was turning right into the right lane. The 2025 4-runner decided on its own that it was not safe to do what I was doing and stopped letting me accelerate around the corner. It just...
I drove through a heavy rainstorm a couple of days ago. The very next day, I heard the brake squeal in reverse. I have about 3500 miles on my TRD Sport.
