The key statement at the end applies. Vehicles are getting more complicated which means more can break and where classic Toyota vehicles could be abused maintenance wise the new gen won’t work like that. So yall thinking you can just do what you’ve always done will be in for an awakening.
I’m...
It's going to be interesting to correlate reliability around some of the "old school" maintenance thoughts. These newer engines with turbos require more maintenance. Deal with it.
Care Care Nut says for Turbos you need oil changes MORE FREQUENTLY than his usual 5k. He recommends somewhere between 3k and 3.5k miles.
Also--get in the habit of sitting in your car for a minute or so to let the oil settle down and cool before shutting off the car.
The spec sheet on Toyota's web site says Digital Key is unavailable, and you can't order it on the model. Yet Limited, Trailhunter and Pro you can. Can someone confirm that Digital Key capability comes out of the box on this trim or is the website correct you cannot get this capability?
Digital Key is the only feature - only on the upper trims - I'd pay a remote connect subscription for. Leaving the keyfob at home and just using your phone to gain access and start the car is the bomb.
My opinion: turbo engines: first oil change 1k miles, then every 3k miles/6mos which ever comes first will be my interval. Might be able to squeeze it to 3.5k intervals, but I'd definitely do it more often than the 5k interval for 5th gen.
The fact that dealerships are showing their lack of expertise on this new complex architecture is not giving me warm n fuzzies. Perhaps keeping my good ole faithful is in the cards.
My ORP is at port and was scheduled for two weeks but now at a month. Can confirm that dealership said it was the dam issue. The lack of communication is making me consider my deposit. Perhaps it's fate that me and my 24 Pro stay together.
