Thanks for all the feedback. I thought they would be OK but wanted to make sure. I found it funny with all the lawyers out there, the OM didn't mention anything.
Joestac - For my first few trips out, I wasn't going to spend a lot in case I do not like it. I was looking at a cheap 20k tow...
This might seem like a stupid question, are the factory tow hooks (front and rear) sufficient to pull a stuck 4Runner? I could not find any info in the owners manual or the forum. The OM just says to use them for securing on a flatbed tow truck. I see a lot of shinny aftermarket options out...
I would take the money and run. Focus on the "real" market value for a Trailhunter in your area and fight the insurance to get as close to that amount. As others said, the title will be branded and the truck will be worth 10-20% less on trade-in, possibly more. The dealers in my area (NY) are...
My SR5 does it too. I think it's coming from the front differential disconnect mechanism. Only way to stop it is shift in 2wd driving in a straight line with your foot off the accelerator pedal. It's noticeable when the driveline is under any load/stress.
My dealer installed LoJack for "free". It looked just like that. It was part of the deal that saved me $1,000. I assumed they got a kickback from the company. I removed it a few days later. Been sitting on a self since. I knew about it and it's on my sales receipt - no surprises.
Moby,
I feel your pain. I'm in the NYC/LI area and had my windshield washer fluid freeze up multiple times this winter. I bought a fluid pump and plan to remove it one day this week. I bought -20F fluid from the auto store. Never had this problem before with other makes/models.
I brought...
My 3 month old donut had some pretty deep grooves. I cleaned it with a sponge and rag and they did not come out. I purchased a take-off SR5 wheel and Yok tire off eBay. I'm pretty sure it has grooves too since it's been there for almost 3 months too. I would like to find a solution soon...
That car was the biggest POS I ever owned. 5 years/60K - It needed: 2 oil lines for turbo (failed twice), 2 coolant lines for the turbo (failed twice), valve cover due to failed integrated PCV valve, catalyst converter, turbo, and the cable for the hot/cold blend door. I traded it as soon as...
I would like to add, my 5K intervals are a result of a very bad experience with another turbo engine. My wife had a first gen Chey Trax with a 1.4L turbo engine. I stuck to the GM maintenance system. It took into account run time, load, engine speed, etc. We were averaging 7-8k intervals...
