Roughly that, maybe a little less on the OTS. On custom tune usually 40-50 hp.
Power is only part of the improvement though. Throttle response and shifting are much better than stock.
With larger tires I’d do the sport TCM but try that and OEM+ and see which you like best. Custom tuning is also done remotely. Let me know if you need any help getting the Accessport installed. It’s very easy.
these new Denso ECU's are not what you are used to. I have a customer who is a service manager at Toyota, and he made every effort to detect that the ECU had ever been flashed or had an other than stock file on it after he uninstalled his Accessport for a recall on his truck. There was no trace.
Not exactly true, for a couple of reasons. The warranty can't be 'voided' for modification. They would need to have reasonable proof that the modification caused a failure. This applies to larger tires, lifts, intakes, or really anything aftermarket.
The other reason, is that the Accessport...
Session 13: E30 Ethanol Tuning Explained: Power Gains, Fueling Changes, and How to Mix It Correctly
Since I've been tuning more trucks on an ethanol blend lately, I figured I'd add an entry here to cover that topic.
A lot of people think running E30 is just adding ethanol to make more power...
It's all very dependent on your right foot. A lot of times mileage will drop a bit during and after tuning because the owner is enjoying it a little too much. I have about 11,500 miles on my truck and it has been tuned since it had 3,000 miles on it. I can still manage 20 to 21 miles per gallon...
Yes I do and once I have a good idea on when support will be available, I will be buying a truck so that I can do development on my own vehicle before bringing it to market.
I bet you I could change your mind about tuning. I can leave your power stock, but improve shifting behavior and it will change the entire driving experience. Take that with more power and torque and you’ve really done something.
I'm back with the information I promised I would get. I spent almost three hours on the dyno, letting the vehicle cool down between runs, and I took the best of four runs in all cases.
One thing that I have characterized on both the 4Runner and the Tacoma is that the first run after an ECU...
