Sounds like you know what you are doing. Yea definitely have to weigh the pros and cons of each modification decision, no free lunch always a give and take. Almost need two of them :) one modded to the max for fun + a trailer.

Did you also modify the suspension to stop the scrubbing from the over sized tire? What percent of driving do you do on pavement vs off road? Mostly pavement driving? I'm just curious, I started off roading the past but now im 90 percent on paved so I don't bother with over sized tires...

I agree you have to have spare at least the same diameter. If you can't deal with a 33" then you are going off of stock specks and then getting cheap by thinking a tiny diameter spare is smart. Its not, do it right or don't do it at all. A full sized matching spare is what I use same rim...

As long as your spare is the same diameter as the stock tires the smaller width will get the job done. I think Toyota could have done a better job of making more room under like Land Rover did with the LR3/LR4 series. Moving to a swing gate opens up a can of worms for most people. Blocks...
