Looks great on your 4Runner thx for sharing the pics. Let us know it affects your MPG or makes any other differences in driving experience -- i.e. sounds, wind noise / whistling, truck getting blown around on windy days, etc.)

What's the first use planned for your roof box?

For now, nothing actually. I just put it up there to test fitment but I only bring it out for road trips. The trunk will be full of my three dogs :)

The power liftgate should have a way to make the tailgate stop short. When we use the roof box on my wife's Lexus, I manually push the tailgate to the position that allows it to clear the roof box and then hold the teach button. Manual tailgates don't have that ability, unfortunately.

That might be 'Lexus-special' that's not available for 4Runner 🙂

Check out page 144 or your owner's manual. (Assuming your trim has a power rear liftgate... I think only premium trims and up get the power liftgate.)

It's a handsome looking machine, definitely an upgrade aesthetically from Gen 5.

Good to know! At least on the 5g my Yakima Skybox couldnt fit w/o the hatch hitting it. Could only open something like 2/3 to 3/4 then it had to stop.

No issues with fitment at all. It even has room to slide forward another couple inches if you’re afraid of the hatch hitting the back of the box.

It looks great up there. Whew that clearance on the lift gate is tight! That extra storage is sure gonna be nice on those camping trips.

Luckily it has more room to move forward! It has a good inch or so of wiggle room if you needed it but I prefer it further back

Adding a few more pics in daylight. In love with how the car looks

That looks sooo good. The swept back aero shape of the Thule Motion XT XL looks perfect with the 6th gen's sportier look, especially the more angular windshield rake.

Notice any difference with your 4R's driving experience so far driving around with the roof box attached?

So the unfortunate truth to report here. Drove about 100 miles with this on the car and got 20 mpg. Loss of about 2.5 or so mpg to have it on

10% reduction sounds about right to me.
