I have been looking through the inventory on toyota.com daily and havent seen any TRD Pro allocations yet in any GST states. I could have missed some, but Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana would be ideal for me. I haven't put down a deposit (I probably should) but the first two dealerships I dealt with were saying they required an intent to purchase from them which I don't feel comfortable signing as a dealership down the street from me could get an unreserved allocation and I'm left waiting.

So with no real promise of a timeline, I am just waiting for now to find one on Toyota inventory in one of these states and then reach out to any dealerships. I am aware this may not be the fastest and best way to go about securing one of these, but I was wondering if anybody had any clue or estimate as to when some of these may hit GST dealerships. I'm becoming more knowledgeable about shipping times to ports and things like that and I understand it takes longer for GST deliveries but I still feel new.

Any information is welcome. I just would love to spark some TRD Pro talk.

As somebody in the GST area, I'll be specifically looking outside of GST because of the port add on shenanigans.

I'm really looking at ORP with hybrid, but if there are Pros available around MSRP, I may just buy one of those. Add 3-5k in port adds? I'll skip it.

Morning Evan,

I know everyone on here has had different experiences and for me, it seems like it was a bit of luck and being in the right place at the right time. I live up in Northwest Montana and was on a wait list for a TRD Pro, where I was around 30 on the list. They got a very early allocation (first week of February) and for whatever reason, the 29 or so people ahead of me passed or didn't call back, on the Black on Black TRD pro, so it landed in my lap for a $500 refundable deposit at MSRP. It was built on February 11th, loaded on the ship on the 17th and will hopefully be to the dealer in the next two weeks or so.

My suggestion would be to just get on the wait lists at whatever dealers you feel comfortable to work with and hopefully you'll get a call! As for the Port Installed Options, mine had about $3k of things I didn't want and as long as you put in the request with your salesperson before it lands in Portland (or whatever port), they should be able to get them removed. He was able to get it all removed and add in a few additional things I wanted.

Good luck with it all and keep us updated!

Unfortunately, GST (Gulf States Toyota) is nothing like the Toyota you and I are used to on the West Coast and operates more like a cartel then an auto dealership group. It's pretty much "their way or the highway."

Has anyone *ever* bought a car from GST, or SET, without all the forced add-ons?

I bought in 2013, with a GST "TSS" package on my Tundra. But it was reasonably priced and gave me wheels I liked enough that they're still on the truck 12 years later. First time I've ever done that LOL

Also, I got over 6k off MSRP with about 20 minutes of discussion with sales/managers. So a fairly well equipped (power seat, Navigation, good backup camera, etc) Tundra was only about 36k and my stress levels were low the whole time. I didn't even entertain buying out of region.

Now? Same dealership adds 2k in nitrogen and cup guards after the GST mafia throws a JC Whitney parts catalog at it. Even after their discounts, you'll get a cloth-seat Tundra with the small screen for 55k.

Brutal. My 2,000 mile Land Cruiser was destroyed by an asshat who wasn't paying attention and took me out, dealers in Seattle are adding 5-8k markups on LC Premium + models, on a whim I found a Mudbath Pro at a small dealership in Oregon, no markup with a scheduled build date of tomorrow, the 28th.

So, keep looking. Grab some zip codes and use the Toyota.com inventory tool and filter for trucks that aren't "sale pending." You'll see which dealers are adding a mark-up (there won't be a listed price, just the MSRP). 🍀

I don't have the time or energy to argue and fight with people over a car purchase any more, I'll probably just pay a broker $1,000 to do it for me and then fly wherever I need to :D

This was something I was wondering as well. I have seen on other threads and zgreen on this one say that people have been successful with getting addons removed and getting some tacked on that they want instead in other regions as long as it hasn't hit port yet.

I would be willing to buy from GST if this is the case and I catch one at MSRP. But judging from this thread and others I may be looking outside as well. The road trip home in the 6G would make the drive all worth it. I am trying to trade-in as well so I unfortunately can't take a cozy flight on my way to pick up.

GST is out of hand with the PIOs. I've been searching all the dealers in my state and neighboring states and GST has loaded all of them down with at least $2,700 worth of junk on them. Almost all of them have the following items a POIs:

Ball Mount
D Pillar Cargo Lights
Cargo Cover
Crossbars
Connectivity Kit
Dash Cam
Rear Cargo Organizer
Rear Cargo Mat
Mud Guards
Vehicle Protection Package

Ironically the only accessory I want are the all weather mats and that's the one thing they don't seem to have.
