First time 4Runner owner. Waited just under 3 months for it to arrive, but man was it worth it. Coming from a Jeep JKU this thing rides like a dream. I have no idea why some people are saying the ride is on the harsher side; it's like you're driving on a cloud. Then again, I've basically been riding around on a slab of concrete for the past 10 years.
Things that surprised me the most:
1. The ride. Seriously. It's so comfortable. I knew it was going to be an upgrade over the Jeep but man...
2. JBL Sound System. I've had a custom hi-fi installed in my Jeep for many years, so I wasn't expecting anything special from the OEM JBL system. I was pleasantly surprised when I took a listen. If you're not an "audiophile" and just want to blast your music and have it stay clear up to max volume you'll have no issue. The system definitely lacks the super low sub-bass coverage but has a nice punch in the higher bass notes.
3. Engine power/torque. The hybrid system has torque for days. You could pinky toe the throttle and it'll have no issues getting up steep grades at all. Compared to my Jeep, it's a night and day difference. The Jeep would constantly gear hunt, and around hilly areas I would just keep it in manual shift because it ALWAYS wanted to gear down, and then I'd have to mush the gas a little to have it down shift. Incredibly annoying, so the 4Runner transmission is like I died and went to heaven.
Overall an A+ from me. I've only put just over 100 miles since this afternoon but it's a dream. Handles great, has power on demand, looks stunning, just an overall fantastic driving experience. I can't wait to put thousands of more miles on the clock! More than happy to answer any questions.
If you're on the edge about it, just pull the trigger.
