Maybe it’s my eyes but I felt like there was not enough lighting in the trunk of my SR5. Maybe higher trims have better lighting. Anyway, I had a few extra “keychain flashlights” that are really handy and usually hang from my backpacks.

The back of the SR5 has clips on the side which I don’t know what they’re really for but I was able to attach the light there and it’s close enough to the charge port for easy charging .

This is a great solution for SR5 with 3rd row.

On the ORP, there are no clips like that. Also, there isn't any 12v power back there. Only an AC inverter. I'd much prefer to have 12v over the inverter since I don't run a fridge or anything that requires DC->AC.

My temporary lighting solution is a rechargeable USB-C strip light (for closets, etc) attached to the headliner with velcro.

Toyota really skimmed on the proper interior lighting for the 6g. It continues to be a downgrade from my 5th gen.

Those clips are probably only on SR5 and Limited trims. They are for the 3-row seatbelts to be stored in when not being used.

Agreed that is a great solution. There was an PIO to add a set of cargo lights to the back on the d-pillar, but having the 3-row I was waiting to see if they are 3rd row compatible and worth the $375. I like your $16 solution better.

Thanks! @rfdj Totally makes sense that the belt goes in the slot and the male part of the buckle goes in the hole where I put the light. I’m never sitting back there so it’s good to know.
@timelapse This is my first 4Runner so it’s sad to hear it may be a downgrade from earlier models. I like it though. Originally I planned to mount the light on the headliner somehow before I saw the clips. I was thinking of using the clothes hanger nub thingys but the light was not secure. Also, the light lasted over 2 hours of continuous use before I got tired of waiting for it to turn off so you shouldn’t need to charge it often and if you mount it you could always use a usb wall charger for the ac outlet when u need.

Do you leave the light in place all the time or only clip on when needed. I ask in reference to rattles and noise. If you leave it clipped on, does it cause a rattle?

Great solution idea.
