  1. My 4Runner was stolen. PSA: install kill switch / anti-theft system

Oh jeez. We're going to Quebec for next week either taking the 4Runner or my wife's Highlander (likely the Highlander). We'll use a faraday pouch for the key. Should we get The Club and maybe a port lock? We also have a Ring camera plugged into her OBD port which I'd think we should keep plugged...
  2. Toyota App Issue - Remote Start + Door Lock Problems

Make sure your doors are locked; it won't start otherwise.
  3. Thoughts on this Overhead Molle panel?

Finally received it today. Long story short: With some very easy modifications it fits. - The mounting plates needed a couple new holes / opened up a couple existing holes, and happily whatever modification you need to do is covered by the stock grab handles. I used a drill press and a Dremel...
  4. Wiring advice for Hybrid models (installing KS80 Auxbeam switch panel)

Interesting. I wired my ditch lights to what you have circled in green without issue.
  5. Recommended areas for 3rd party gun safes?

Oh that's a big bummer. I use this one; there's the difference.
  6. Recommended areas for 3rd party gun safes?

So I essentially made a 'handle' with duct tape on the front of the vaultek. The safe sits under the passenger seat and I can reach over and grab the 'handle' to pull it up onto the passenger seat to open it. I'll try and get a picture tomorrow.
  7. Recommended areas for 3rd party gun safes?

I used a Vaultek lifepod cabled under the passenger seat. It didn't seem like there was sufficient space under the driver's side to fit it.
  8. Cali Raised Dual Function switch (where to tap for logo illumination)

I'm about to start a similar project and was searching around to see if anyone else has figured a good one to tap ahead of time for backlight-only-when-dash-lights-are-on. If I have a breakthrough I'll report back here, though as a default I was going to do the same exact as you did. Good to see...

When the 4Runner is on, yes.
  11. Ditch Lights recommendations?

You splice them into the OEM pigtails for the Aux circuits. Pigtails are plugged in either under the dash kick panel on the driver's side or under the hood.
  12. Ditch Lights recommendations?

Yes. Backlight to Aux 5 and the lights themselves to Aux 3.
  13. Ditch Lights recommendations?

I've installed their ditch lights, backup lights, and hitch pod backup light and on all of them the wiring was excellent quality / easiest integration I've ever done.
  14. Ditch Lights recommendations?

Diode Dynamics. Wiring is top-notch on their products.

  18. Disconnecting Battery Prior to Installing Ditch Lights

FWIW I do lots of electrical projects (for instance installed Diode Dynamics ditch lights last week) and I never bother to disconnect the battery. Obviously do what makes you feel safe but as long as you're not arbitrarily connecting wires where they don't belong it's not necessary.
  19. Radio source switching?

Are you pressing the Mode button on the steering wheel by accident?
