Glad you guys have figured it out! I haven’t noticed any ticking noises in my car, but out of curiosity, I took a look under my hood. I also seem to be missing a nut (more on the passengers side than the drivers side), but at least there’s no noise. Well, if I do start hearing something, this...
Also, has anybody used Polaris? How/where does one get the oil samples from them? Seems to be a pain working around the website, but I have heard they are excellent.
Yes, "it didn't even thin the oil's viscosity out of spec this time"...
but just barely...
and the other two times, it did.
46.2 vs. 46 lower bound limit
6.1 vs 6.0 lower bound limit
Too close to comfort, if it were me.
By the way, thank you for posting your UOA here - I think this thread...
Wow, out of grade in each of the first 1,000 miles OCI's and almost out of grade in the third. Insane. To me, that either points to TMO being ass or 0W-20 as a whole being a bad recommendation on Toyota's part.
SouthCoast, thanks for taking the time to answer my questions and thought experiment - much appreciated. I think I will eventually move onto 0W-30, but not sure of the when. I just crossed 1,000 miles today and I feel just a tad more comfortable at this point to stick with 0W-20 during this...
Thanks for the info and analysis report. I was actually re-reading this thread last night and got to page 3 before I fell asleep, but I've been researching this topic more seriously over the past few weeks.
I understand the difference in US vs. International manuals for the same engine, and...
If you have a Costco membership, take the 15 seconds to go through the Costco Auto Program. They will give you a person to contact or a partnered dealer will reach out to you. Just be ready with exactly which vehicle you want and they'll see what they can do. They will give you a Costco price...
Excellent, barely used condition. Comes with everything you need to install on your truck.
Universal mount - NOT the MagSafe version

I noticed that too. You're still in-grade, but just barely. The reasons could be many.
I think you should consider doing your next oil change at 3,000 instead of 5,000 and see what results you get. I see you're going with PUP 0W-20...me too :)
Lake Speed recommends first oil changes to be...
Best of luck and I agree that documenting all issues is the best approach.
Out of curiosity, what's your current mileage? I just crossed 900 and have 0 clunking/hard-shifting. Even did an oil change at 600 but it's bee long gone since before then
OK, I just finished with this mod. A bit of a pain with the clips but not too bad.
It's amazing how this is not stock from Toyota...without this lighting, the cargo area is totally useless.
One thing to note: be careful with those damn yellow clips. When removing the original garnishes, a...
Any tips on how to remove the main D-pillar garnish?
I just gave it a shot and I can't get my fingers between edge and trim and pull (plus I feel like I'm gonna break something).
Should I start from the side? Top? Bottom? Any help would be appreciated
I also have a manual liftgate with my SR5 and purchased this. However, when I recieved it, the package arrived without any instructions, and after looking on the Amazon page for the manual liftgate instructions on the Land Cruiser, I decided that this mod is a bit too unfriendly, potentially...
Idk, it just is. Most of my mostly-highway rides are 25ish minutes and are always around 23.1 - 23.5 mpg when I shut off the car and the box pops up
Speeds on the highway around around 69mph, rarely exceed 75
