Had a good test on the beach today. From 11am to 2pm it raised the cooler from 44% to almost 100% charge all while we were opening it for drinks. Even added a warm 6-pack around 1pm and it kept up with the demand. I’m calling it a win.
it
Wrapped it in a UV sleeve and just slipped it between the hatch and roof seal. Crushes down nicely and haven’t had a leak yet.
I didn’t want to over complicate things by drilling holes.
Update: We put the cooler in the back and plugged it into the solar panel about a 3 weeks ago. Kept it in there through a weekend of camping where it got lots of open/close for drinks and two weeks of my wife on jury duty and she kept her lunch and cold water in there too. Finally pulled it...
I get this...and sometimes have to follow these steps when it's connected to my wife's phone instead of mine. But for some reason when I remote start the vehicle this option doesn't work.
In the US, yes. Not sure if that is the case in Canada. I have had my license for a couple years now but haven't installed a radio yet in my 4Runner. Have to say that this post is really pushing me to take that step.
We started with FRS radios that were helpful for parking our camper (I...
I thought you could too. But no matter what I did the sensitivity never seems to change. I was able to locate where you can turn off the audible beeping when it gets to close to the outer edge of the lane, but that audio level resets each time you turn off then restart your 4Runner. I even...
I have this one from Autel: https://a.co/d/cPE2yNz
It works fine to retract the parking brake motors on my 2021 F-250 as well as my 2016 Civic. As it recognizes the Civic fine under the "import" category, I'm confident it will also read the 4R. You can often catch it with a discount box to...
I have noticed very mild oscillations on mine too. Coincidentally, I rented a Grand Highlander in Milwaukee last weekend and it had all the bells/whistles. I played around in the menus a little and saw that you could set the sensitivity of the lane tracing between 3 levels (low/med/high). I...
Solid plan. I opted for a 100w hard panel recessed flush into my roof rack which powers either my Anker 40L cooler or my Anker Solix F2000. Likely the cooler a majority of the time...but occasionally the solar generator. No Starlink for me - I'm not that cool!
I wonder if you can put the parking brake into service mode from that screen? It would be helpful when it comes time to do rear brakes. Otherwise you'll need an OBDII scanner to retract the parking brake motors
That looks awesome! I was looking pretty closely at those last month but in the end I was nervous to mount it to the hood. Combination of unsure if the hood heat would affect it and basically nervous that I would screw up the install!!! I have to say it looks pretty good on yours - almost...
We tend to spend many of our summer weekends out on the beach surf fishing. This means the 4Runner will be parked from shortly after sunrise to just after sunset without being started or running at all. This often will happen for two days in a row and occasionally we camp at the park and then...
We didn’t want the complication of a hybrid system in a vehicle we intend to have for a very long time. Doesn’t hurt that the Max was $3000 more and the solar was $150 all in.
I put a solar panel on the roof rack. It'll power my cooler on long weekends.
It's only a 100w panel, but has 16 bus bars to hopefully overcome some slight shading from time to time. I used 12"x1"x1/4" aluminum bars for supports - each bar has two stainless bolts w/lock nuts holding it to the...
I never use cruise or LTA in a city environment. But sometimes I just want the lane tracking even if I don't have cruise control turned on. I commute 127 miles a day for work and any safety advantage I can gain is a plus in the long run. I've put 263K miles on my daily driver so far and being...
No takers? I took a small trip this weekend and had the chance to mess around a little more and I don't think the lane tracing can be used with the cruise isn't turned on.
I can see and feel the lane tracing engage when I have cruise control turned on. But is there a way to have LTA working when you don't have cruise control turned on? I can the see the benefit of having LTA working even when you aren't on cruise. I have a Honda that allows that (they call it...
