the 20" had lateral movements
the 17"s reduced the lateral movements, added some vertical plush
If you think about the sidewalk alone, you are probably imagining extra lateral movements on the 17"s, I expected that too, it's surprising.
I watched a bunch of "blind test" videos, reviews are always neutral on pavement like "all shocks are the same"
I need to find someone in the Bay Area having aftermarket shocks
What do you guys think of the C59-885V on stock Platinum Hybrid? it says the lift would be 0.5" only, I really want to keep the AVS suspension, I just need a progressive shock, I think it would make the ride softer on street.
the ORBL seems to be Ford specific, thicker and a bit narrower thread, I checked the label at the shop because they were about to install those... they didn't know either, it says "ORBL FOR" for Ford.
I said "white letters inside", the guy said it's all black... If I stayed in the waiting room...
@hussch85 Got the KO3s, much better ride quality, I won’t upgrade the suspension, it would be a downgrade imho https://www.4runner6g.com/forum/threads/ko3-rides-better-than-road-tires…-didn’t-expect-this.9780/

Ran both KO3 (LT285/70R17 C, RWL ~51lb on Method 703 Gloss Titanium 17x8.5, 35mm offset, 32.7") and Yokohama G057 (285/50R20 on OEM 20x7, 31.5") on my 2026 4Runner Platinum.
Both were set around ~37 PSI warm, and this is all on-road driving (no off-road yet), but my local streets are so bad...
Make sure you get C load tires, not E.
... but the 18"s don't come in C, best is D for the 18" KO3s
anyways get C or D unless you do severe off roading, those are stiff tires.
the OME kit comes with the 3344, I will probably start with that and see the difference before modifying too much with speculative results, I really like the AVS.
Would you consider the C59-885V or 3344 "alone" as a starter to soften road imperfections?
Do you have the specs for Toyota's OEM shock?
I can't even find the specs for the C59-885V on the official website, how did you figure the lift and spring rate?
Found this!
https://store.arbusa.com/coil-spring-set-rear-3344/
I believe it has a much lower spring rate compared to the OEM (180 ??)
This is a progressive spring, 114-160 lb/in
And fully compatible with Toyota's AVS since we don't swap out anything
Considering this for my Platinum
