The lower portion of the doors and body panels, along with rockers, commonly have much thicker paint that is much more visibly orange peeled, to protect against rocks thrown up by tires/road. Not sure if there is something special under the paint or if it's just much thicker paint there.

No offense, but the original post seems very clearly written by AI... I wish we could keep online community discussions human and authentic, using our own words and brains!
I paid invoice for my limited gas 5-seater in December. Only PIO was all-weather floor mats, no BS addons like vin etching or fake ceramic coating. Oregon.
Ya, that’s how my limited is. A little message even comes up on the screen that says “press brake harder to stop engine” or something like that!
it _is_ strange it’s not on the lower trims, given it seems like more of a CAFE thing than anything
Dunno what you’re… correcting? here. TMC directly owns over 20% of Aisin. They are closely affiliated both by current ownership structure as well as corporate history.
The point is it’s not like some unaffiliated third party manufactures the transmission, which was the implication of the...
Aisin was a department within Toyota that spun off into its own company, of which Toyota owns the biggest share.
So yeah, it’s a separate company but it was born out of Toyota and is still tightly affiliated.
Based on reviews the Passport is definitely the way to go if you don’t need or value the incremental capability increase and features of the 4Runner over the passport. The crossover form factor will always win on interior space and driving characteristics on-road.
maybe it was when they were first released, but inventory is swollen these days. dealerships want to pretend like it's still 2021 but it's far from it. you should be able to easily get invoice or lower pricing.
Highly recommend google, youtube, claude, etc.
Standard Part-Time 4WD has worked the same way, more or less, for decades, so there are lots of good resources out there. Far more information available to you by doing a simple search than anyone would be willing or able to type out here!

I don't believe it works on the Tundra/Sequoia TRD Pro BBS wheels... or does it?
The 4Runner TRD Pro wheels are not BBS, afaik.
EDIT: I see the sale is over now! If it did indeed work on the BBS PT960-34220-2F, I missed out!
Maybe AVS is indeed all 4. I had thought it was front only because you can see the wires connecting to the top of the front shocks, but there were no visible wires on quick inspection of the rears, at least not in the same place as the fronts. But it sounds like they may indeed be AVS in the...
Previous thread with a lot of discussion:
https://www.4runner6g.com/forum/threads/curb-weight-gvwr-towing-capacity-for-6th-gen-4runner-2025.1991/post-97131
TL;DR: nothing prevents a manufacturer from setting the advertised payload capacity lower than (GVWR - Curb Weight). Toyota seems to be...
I haven't put a lot of effort into inspecting it closely but I too have noticed the digital rearview mirror feels like it's missing a pivot point or something compared to what I'm used to
Maybe, but the truth is it's super common for people to think totally normal sounds are problematic, especially with how toyota packages their motors
so i bet 90%+ of the inbound complaints about motor noise, especially ticking, are motors working as designed/expected
