  1. Could use some guidance - 4runner prospective buyer

I have owned a few Chevy trucks and a few Toyotas. Back in March I sold the 2003 Sequoia that we purchased new and picked up a TRD Off Road Premium. With about 1,000 miles on it we drove it from NW WA to San Antonio and back. Took it in for the 10,000 mile service today. Very pleased with it and...
  2. Why is everyone allergic to the stock 18 TRD OR/ORP wheels?

Function over form. I'm the same way. Why spend money you don't need too. When a stock wheel on our 03 Sequoia showed signs of corrosion a couple of years ago I found a refurbished direct replacement rather than purchase four new rims as new OEM wheels were no longer available.
  3. Autosocks size for 265/70R18 tires

You have Les Schwab tire stores in CO. Take your ride to one of their shops and I'm betting one of their employees can test fit a pair of socks for you check. I too took note of what the manual says. I looked at a pair and did not think they would be up to the task I wanted them for which is...
  4. Restricted turn radius in 4H

I have driven 4X4s as my daily driver and as work vehicles since 1976. Sold our 2003 Sequoia to purchase the 4Runner and my 04 2500HD is still in the driveway. I never exercised the FWD systems on a regular bases, just used as needed especially in the fall and winter. Never had one fail on me...
  5. RCI Pike Front Bumper with Warn ZEON 10 Winch installed

Just what I am looking for. Minimal weight, minimal cutting, low profile and easy access to the winch. Like you my concern is snow. I figured a leveling kit to bring the nose/fairlead up and compensate for the added weight. Been looking and was going to decide in the spring. Please let us know...
  6. Consumer Reports 2025 4Runner Evaluation / Review

Consumer Reports is still a good source of information for a lot of things but you are right about automotive evaluations. They tend to rate trucks and SUVs poorly because of ride and on road handling but that's what I think people look at these days. They want a truck or SUV with a rough and...
  7. Consumer Reports 2025 4Runner Evaluation / Review

We sold our Sequoia that we purchased new in 2003 to buy the 4Runner. Interior furnishing/storage is my only real complaint. The ride is what I expected it to be and it both handles better and has more pep than the Sequoia did. However the 4Runner has less storage and what there is I consider an...
  8. Consumer Reports 2025 4Runner Evaluation / Review

For those interested the Consumer Reports evaluation of the 2025 4Runner is out. Right now access is on-line only, Has not hit the printed edition yet. As one would expect it is rated much better than the Bronco or Jeep Wrangler. For this evaluation they rented a 2025 TRD Pro. They also...
  9. Recovery Points (or just for trailer safety chains)?

These are the easiest and probably the safest, most versatile way to anchor/attach a tow strap or chain. Purchased this one from Warn Industries years ago and it has seen a lot of use on my 3/4 ton truck. Just ordered another one off Amazon so I can have one in each vehicle. Several different...
  10. Buzzing Sound

That is normal. Bothered me a bit when we first got our 4Runner but used to hearing it now. At first I thought it might create a battery issue but after leaving it parked in the garage or elsewhere for a couple of week long plus stretches with no issues I no longer worry about it.
  11. 6G Paint Questions - Durability? Ceramic Coat or PPF?

Not sure why I have not had any problems with anything about our ride as others have. I realize that folks forgo the Zurich coating that Toyota pushes but I had it done anyway on our Cutting Edge finish just to try it before taking delivery back in March plus both upper and lower PPF. After...
  12. Overall a good truck, but a big Fail and a bit of a miss

If you have a case on your phone the charger is not going to work. Minus a case the charger works great for me and I'm using Android Auto, Bluetooth and Google Maps. Will completely charge my sometimes nearly dead phone and keep it charged while using the apps. I have had four adults with...
  13. Owners Manual says no snow chains on 265/70R18 tires. Anyone use cables that will work without damaging?

I purchased chains for our 4Runner at our local Les Schwab a week or so ago. We test fitted them in the parking lot. Looked good so I picked them up. Test fitted them again at home and gave them a thorough look from every angle. Could not see any issue. They also mentioned tire socks.
  14. Tire Chains Installed on 265/70/18 Tires - Chaining Up For Snow

With winter snows coming or in some locations already here a few have been concerned about their 4Runner manual stating that they cannot utilize tire chains. With the 265/70R18 Falken factory tires on our Off Road Premium I have that problem as the manual states that chains cannot be fitted to...
  15. 2025 4runner TRD Off-Road Premium is useless in the winter (can't fit tire chains)

Just the back. Not enough clearance in front. Suspension components. In all but the worst cases all most will need is just a set on the back.
  16. 2025 4runner TRD Off-Road Premium is useless in the winter (can't fit tire chains)

I need chains for the same reason you do. A remote cabin down 3/4 of a mile of sometimes unplowed forest road with deep snow. I have had my 3/4 ton truck stuck on it with all four chained up. My real problem is a hill which is sometimes icy. When it gets like that I need chains to get out even...
  17. 2025 4runner TRD Off-Road Premium is useless in the winter (can't fit tire chains)

Went to my trusted tire shop a few weeks ago after reading about tire chains in the manual. Test fitted this set and bought them. Here they are this morning in my driveway. Crawled around and under again. No clearance issues with these that I can see. The heavy cross bar chains that I use on my...
  18. Photo Request - 285/70/17 Spare Tire

Ruts and mud would be my issue and I would hit both, hanging up if the ruts are deep enough.
  19. Photo Request - 285/70/17 Spare Tire

If you look closely you will note that it does not hang lower than the bottom of the rear differential. I would say that if you drag the spare tire somewhere you might have a bigger problem and maybe some real damage elsewhere.
